Open Dental is an open source dental solution that includes on-premise electronic charting, billing, practice management and imaging applications that are suitable for both large and small dental practices. Prescribing capabilities include e-prescribing and printed prescriptions, which can be filled in using predefined templates. Prescriptions are automatically logged and can be reviewed using a specially created report.
The treatment plan module collects all required treatments for an individual patient, organized in order of priority. Users can send, add and modify preauthorization treatment forms from this module and can modify fees for individual procedures.
The solution provides a patient portal to make payments, view appointments, view treatment plans, send or receive webmail and download summaries of care.The appointment calendar can be viewed in daily or weekly mode. Appointments can be color-coded to distinguish between providers.Open Dental is compatible with Windows, Linux and Mac operating systems. Support is offered via phone and chat.

Open Dental is a very well liked software by all of our employees. It is easy to use, especially when having to train.

easy to use, very straight to the point, icons show you exactly what you are looking for, everything you need is at the click of a button
Cons
The only issue I have with this software, is that if you have multiple offices you have to look up a patient by each office. There is not 1 search place that will search a patient at all locations.
